With over 4,000 new students entering West Virginia University each year, many individuals share the same questions, concerns, and anxieties. University 101 helps both new freshmen and new transfer students become acclimated to University life and face new challenges.

In 2002, the Faculty Senate approved University 101 as a graduation requirement; therefore, all incoming freshman and transfer students with fewer than 29 credit hours must complete this course during their first semester at WVU. Not only must the course be completed, students must attain a passing grade to meet the graduation requirement.
